Training Tuesday: Change Duration of Multiple Slides or Transitions at Once

When working in the Slides list, you can set the duration of an individual Slide / Transition OR change the duration of multiple Slides / Transitions to the same value all at once.

Example: You can set all the Transitions in the entire show to the same duration by selecting a single Slide, pressing CTRL+A on the keyboard (to select all the Slides in the show), then changing the duration for any one of the Transitions. The new duration will be applied to the Transition in each of the selected Slides, which in this case is every Slide in the show. The same process applies to Slide durations.

If you only want to change the Transition duration on a subset of Slides, click one of those Slides then use the CTRL or SHIFT keys while clicking on other slides. Using the CTRL key will add only the clicked Slide to the existing selection while using the SHIFT key creates a continuous selection between the originally selected Slide and the newly clicked Slide.

Tip: You can also change the type of Transition for multiple Slides at once.  With multiple Slides selected, click the Transition icon for one of the selected Slides, choose a new Transition effect, and Apply that selection. The applied Transition will then be used for all the currently selected Slides.

You can also change several Slides to a specific duration if they are not adjacent.  Hold the CTRL key as you click individual Slides.  If you change the Slide or Transition duration for one of the selected Slides, all of the Slides in the selection will update to the new value. You can also right-click on one of the selected Slides and choose “Select Style” to apply a single Slide Style to all selected Slides.
